A tornado can form and dissipate within seconds, reaching winds of up to 200mph and taking with it homes, cars, trees, and more. They can be quite difficult to forecast, as cool descending dry air passes over rising warm moist air with wind direction at different altitudes. Earthquakes are also one of the worst and most unpredictable natural disasters we face, having the ability to change communities for generations to come. We had an EF-3 hit Dexter, Missouri, in July 2021. Hardly any footage of it at all when it hit. I was working for both the Dexter Burger King and the Dexter Arby's when it hit just behind Burger King.

I survived the Joplin tornado. I was thrown 690 feet, broke my neck, arms, ankle, and left ear. I just learned to walk again.

Missouri has got to be one of the worst states to live in. Freezing in the winter, hot and sticky in the summer, tornado alley and St. Louis crime.
A few years ago, an EF-4 tornado struck just outside my Colorado town. Even at 10,000 feet elevation, it showed no mercy. The astonishing part was it hitting amidst a forest fire, making the situation far more dire. It added hundreds of acres to the fire's reach. While I believe no lives were lost, firefighting crews were already battling a 40,000-acre fire. Truly an apocalyptic scenario
I was right in the middle and survived the Joplin MO tornado while helping do search and rescue through it all. We had no warning, no alarms, no weather updates, and it was just a beautiful ordinary day then all hell broke loose. I lost so many friends, and several individuals I knew that cant be imagined. I cant express how important being prepared while also being diligent is so important with storms being unpredictable. I still reside in Joplin MO and do not plan on moving.
I'm going to be controversial here but if tornadoes are a real possibility then dig a hole stupid & put a roof & door on that shit. I get it if you rent cause that makes it a bit complicated. Well Los Angeles suffered 20,000 homeless from an earthquake. Now LA has 75,4500 homeless without a major disaster. I call that progress by the left.😂

61 years i have lived in my state in Australia & only in the last couple of years have we been getting tornadoes, & much worse storms & Don't tell me climate change has nothing to do with it, i call BULLSH*T on that 1.
We used to have Hurricane Sandy in my area in 2012 which is located in New Jersey. It was the most night terror moment ever in my life.

Criminals the insane and inexperienced people "not" guns and cars are dangerous!!! Guns, knives, cars, baseball bats. etc.. are only dangerous when in the hands of a criminal, the insane or one that does not know the legal proper use of such items… Weather and natural events of the earth and universe are beyond our control as human beings… We can only predict and give warnings of what appears to be immediately or further out future dangers…

Speaking of people being desensitized to tornado sirens. Here they test them every 6 months. So, yeah I can understand being desensitized. And they NEVER alert half an hour beforehand. It's always 5-10 min. before.

Here on the South east coast of Africa we don't really have any natural disasters. Sometimes extreme rain causes havoc, like the one in 2022. I live on a hill/steep road, nowhere near a river. Living too close to the sea or near a river is something I would not do.
As a tornado survivor you are not garanteed a siren or any early warning against a tornado. They can be on the ground several minutes before those sirens go off. When conditions are right for a twister you will feel it. Animals feel it, and they respond before you even have any hint something is up. It is up to you to be vigilant when the weather turns sour. I grew up in texas and can tell you mother nature only comes to texas for the tequila cause when she arrives you never know what mood she gonna be in!

My dad was a police officer in Lacy Lakeview Tx when the Jarrell Tx tornado hit in '97. When the Jarrell Tx tornado hit, he volunteered for a rescue/relief effort. He said the unfortunate thing about the Jarrell Tornado, is it was a little town off of I-35, and most of the parents to children were out of town at work, so there was no way for them to be saved. He said while a lot of people obviously lived, it felt like it wasn't a rescue effort, but rather a "piece people together" type of situation. He said the most haunting thing of it was just seeing body parts scattered everywhere, and he's still haunted by it to this day.
I was in a farm house 5 miles from bobcayon here in ontario when it got hit. The rain was going sideways window blew in. I got a go bag together and the dogs close, slept near the basement door. Scary shite.
