playing shadow rift on an opponents creature essentially forces them to attack someone else with it because of giving shadow to Ivy

Erik Öhman September 4, 2022 at 11:12 am

If you play Cadric in Gerrard you could do alot of nonsense =)

Anew522 September 4, 2022 at 11:12 am

Oh crap, I thought it did say X exactly for jhoira. Nvm what I was thinking, that's already broken

Erik Öhman September 4, 2022 at 11:50 am

If an opponent mutates, could they choose the way they do it, making your copy do the same thing and have you lose the aibilities on Ivy?

robert c September 4, 2022 at 9:09 pm

wont Ivy make your commander more susceptible to opponents single target removal. just target not ivy and also take out ivy?

Holden Adams September 4, 2022 at 11:28 pm

Wouldn’t Gisela just three times damage

Adam Hobbs September 5, 2022 at 10:09 am

No Stang? Heartbreaking :/

Code of Zero September 5, 2022 at 10:18 am

It is king Darien the 48th
X is 10
L is 50
Vis 5
I is 1
With the X in fount of the L you take away 10 from 50 that make 40

Benjamin Schneider September 5, 2022 at 5:46 pm

I’m not positive but with gerrard and ashnods altar in the cadric deck, i think you go infinite as long as you sacrifice the original first with altar and then sacrifice the token copy with the triggered ability on the stack, right? That way the token brings back the original before the exile effect resolves? Then use the ashnods mana to re copy the gerrard with cadric. Or does the exile part of the trigger not care about zone changes?

In the Astor deck, the equipment creatures are really useful for crew strategies. You can equip them onto a body to crew the vehicle, then equip them to the vehicle. After the vehicle attacks the creatures fall off and you've essentially cheated the reconfigure cost.

A two hour video? And it's only part one?? I get there's a lot of commanders in this set but you guys have got to learn to be brief and concise. No way I'm sitting down for two hours just to watch you two banter back and forth about each commander. FFS.

BirdmanG07 September 6, 2022 at 4:16 am

Pulled a stained glass Ivy from a prerelease and was like, “that’s cool I guess.” Clearly after watching this it’s more impressive than I thought.

gggiiillllllyyy September 6, 2022 at 9:56 am

Jhodah in the 99 of a god tribal deck is amazing fun.

Allen Ridenour September 6, 2022 at 6:48 pm

I wonder how spellthief works with vesuvian duplimancy

Wesley Shinevar September 7, 2022 at 12:23 am

No mention for Ratadrabik of Urborg? Finally a Zombie Commander!

Eduardo Paranaguá September 7, 2022 at 1:46 pm

Jenson is a Lurrus enabler. Alternatively it also can be a good filtering. if you make the Karn, living legacy powerstone tokens or stuff like that. You get to use that mana that had restrictions to make WUBRG that has no restrictions. I think it might be the best storm commander because of lurrus

Jerald Tham September 7, 2022 at 5:23 pm

Fun fact: The type line for Meria in the video is cheerios. Meria in the Malay language means cheery.

The great creator September 7, 2022 at 6:08 pm

Sage of hours seems kind of broken in Ivy

Charlotte Paoli September 7, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Piru s great in dihada 🙂

Dylan Miller September 7, 2022 at 9:01 pm

The most interesting (not good, just interesting) idea I heard for Jenson is that it lets you make a 5 color deck with Lurrus as your companion for the first time

Spark Frog September 7, 2022 at 10:51 pm

I’m a tad confused about the Baral’s Expertise thing, why wouldn’t you be able to do artifacts as well, you’re still only targeting one creature right?

Damein Girouard September 8, 2022 at 1:11 am

Elas is a great commander pair it with a sacrifice combo you can go infinite on gaining and making players lose life

Alex Kluck September 8, 2022 at 4:05 am

Wow that was so cool when Jimmy said Post Malones name

The Struggling Chef September 8, 2022 at 5:43 am

If you sac the token Gerard in response to the first ones trigger the tokens trigger returns the original to the field going infinite as long as you gen one mana

DeathSpeach September 8, 2022 at 10:54 am

Late to the party, and not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the CEDH crowd likes Jenson for 1 simple fact … You can now do a 5 color lurris deck.

Obi the BEEF September 8, 2022 at 1:33 pm

IDK how anyone could read Ivy and not think it's powerful.

WalterGM September 8, 2022 at 7:56 pm

Stormchaser Drake
Sage of Hours
Season of Growth
Karn's Temporal Sundering
Knowledge Exploitation
Notorious Throng

Nickster NYR September 9, 2022 at 1:35 pm

Jhoira is gonna get banned in the first 2 months for sure

Spyromancy598 September 9, 2022 at 5:26 pm

if you have trikes and tri-lands, mana fixing in Jared is super easy. that's 20 lands that each tap for 3 colors half of which have basic land types and thus are searchable. also you can just run The World Tree have chromatic lantern on a land

Jess Lynne September 9, 2022 at 6:18 pm

I like the idea of using Jodah as the head of a deck with a secret commander. Very interesting, opens up a lot more possibilities than just a generic 5 color commander.

Ethan Northover September 9, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Here's a potential interesting question…
If you have Jodah, archmage eternal on the board, would you be able to trigger Jenson off of the alternate cost for the extra 4/4 angel?

Michael Roman September 10, 2022 at 5:34 pm

I don’t know how Josh has played this long and never once got color screwed, but if I’m running 5 colors that Lantern is definitely going in.

Utility lands aren’t slowing you down, you don’t get the wrong color 2 color lands and triomes. And the down side is it’s 3 mana instead of 2?

Flbthp, the introverted September 11, 2022 at 11:41 am

Imo Jenson is better than Jared because sure, scrying isn’t super exciting, but think of how many times in a commander game you have been top decking hoping to get gas to stay in the game. Well, jenson can help kinda filter through what you need just by casting spells. Not to mention, some of the multicolored spells, like esper charm, draw you cards! And this all not mentioning that he is 2 mana and can filter your mana.

Gray Rook September 12, 2022 at 1:44 pm

One more amazing interaction with Ivy is Estrid's invocation. It copies an aura and the Ivy copies it and then both those copies are trigger next turn and make two more, then four more increasing exponentially as long as all the Invocation triggers are aimed at Aura attached to a different creature.

8nykspree September 12, 2022 at 10:49 pm

They really missed the mark by not having a five color Jethro Carthalian

Ricky Van de Carr September 13, 2022 at 3:55 am

Can someone tell me if reflective golem and ivy works how I think it would? So Golem let’s you copy a spell that targets it, so if I use that copy and target something else will Ivy copy it twice for herself as well?

Ry-7hym September 13, 2022 at 9:22 am

I love how the inside joke Kelpie Guy sticked all this time

Troy Taylor September 13, 2022 at 4:14 pm

I wanna see gameplay. Ivy v Zada v feather

Vilend September 18, 2022 at 12:01 am

Jhoira ceiling is crazy, but I think Meria is stronger due to consistency. The mana plus card draw is so much.

Yautja Prime September 19, 2022 at 12:53 pm

The way these adds are done is the most pleasant way to present a product I've ever seen. Hats off to the whole team but a special one to the animators that make this experience so incredible. Thank you all 🙂

Corn September 21, 2022 at 9:20 am

Dryad is easier to remove, no to chromatic lol

B M September 27, 2022 at 1:14 am

Ivy seems like feather without the hand size problems, mana problems, or being limited to mostly pump spells.

Test Permanent October 1, 2022 at 6:24 pm

XLVIII is 48. Its basically a math equation. X is 10, L is 50, V is 5, I is 1. If a number is less than the next number its subtracting if its greater its adding, so it ends up being 50 – 10 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 48

George October 5, 2022 at 3:18 am

What about aura creatures that target a creature? do you get 2 of them?

Daniel Choritz October 14, 2022 at 12:41 pm

the strongest point of that commander is the mana conversion, so you build a deck that wants to play some of the 5 color cards with a green and white base. that is not bad, because you can ramp up fast and white gives protection and board clear. you just need then some tutor to find your keycards on turn 3-4 to bring your cards in play on turn 4-5

PK _Gaming October 24, 2022 at 4:54 pm

I know this is late but turn two jhoira, turn three thousand year elixer and boost Jhoira to 2, turn four Clever Conjuror boost Jhoira to 6 drop a staff of domination, then to eight and drop a chromatic orrey and go infinite with mana, card draw, and artifact plays.
