Billions spent on design, but preventing dust collection on the solar panels is an after thought??

Canthus13 January 8, 2023 at 10:44 pm

The world weighs heavily in your eyes, my friend. But I'm always glad to see you.

Stijn Van Vl January 9, 2023 at 12:30 am

why dont thay fly the heli over insight to remove the dust?

shinigami ryuk January 9, 2023 at 6:01 am

Long time no see Mr smarty

Dæmon Visigoth January 9, 2023 at 8:44 pm

Anyone else think the sample container @ 2:19 looks like a lightsaber?

h3lix86 January 10, 2023 at 2:54 am

i refuse to believe NASA can put a rover on Mars, but can't figure out how to use co2/02 jets to blow dust off the solar panels, squeegee, brushes, SOMETHING. this story doesn't sit right with me.

Xx_Lunar Eclipse_xX January 10, 2023 at 4:09 pm

I've always believed we were on other planets but nuked ours until we had to leave

Connie Pressley January 11, 2023 at 1:01 am

I'm fascinated with ingenuity. It's like the other one's onboard AI is sentient by looking after Ingenuity. But still there's something about these whirlwinds. I can't put my finger on it. Guess it's simply a real Martian whirlwind tornado and nothing else. Just my wild imagination. Lol

Connie Pressley January 11, 2023 at 1:09 am

Lifetime warranty for Ingenuity. Way to go team. No lemons there.

Tesla and Humanity January 11, 2023 at 6:14 am

Stop 🛑 we all know what’s true , we have bases on Mars already and the moon . Why lie ffs

Always Late Productions January 11, 2023 at 7:57 am

Wouldn’t a brush on an arm to clean the solar panels have been a good idea? Maybe a future rover can go clean them so they can get back to work.

Nature and Physics January 12, 2023 at 12:02 am

I got maybe TWO telescopic views of Mars during this opposition! At least saw some major features, but cloud cloud cloud for weeks!

LOC USTE January 12, 2023 at 9:03 am

there a gold like mineral on mars it was predicted

ÆRational January 12, 2023 at 10:00 am

sheesh you would think they would come up with a method to clean the panels… a robot arm with a brush or something

ÆRational January 12, 2023 at 10:03 am

If volcanic activity resumed on Mars could it hypothetically create an atmosphere for itself?

OneOf January 12, 2023 at 3:49 pm

Why don’t they fly over the other one and blow the dust off the solar pannel

Gary Wayne January 12, 2023 at 5:30 pm

All that money and they didn't put some kind of brush arm to clear the solar panels of dust. UNBELIEVABLE

OICU812 January 13, 2023 at 5:48 am

Great video!

Blair January 13, 2023 at 2:45 pm

I feel if we developed an orbital rail gun to launch probes to planets would be highly useful. It would allow probes to focus on landing and science equipment by reducing active thrust. It would also be able to launch carrier vessels with several drones or relay/ observational satellites. Once developed enough, the rail launcher could even accelerate deep space probes to extremely fast speed very quickly, allowing us to go further than we have at much faster rates.

Could the Helicopter Fly Over Perseverance & Blow Off the Dust on it's Solar Panels?

William Potter January 13, 2023 at 11:31 pm

Robots! Mars is populated by robots; an entire planet of robots!!!

strigon san January 14, 2023 at 4:43 am

Wait what is the sound traveling through and what is the mini tornado made of

decoyla January 14, 2023 at 4:49 am

why didnt they just use the helicopter to blow the dust off perseverance

DYNAMIC DIS-ASSEMBLY January 14, 2023 at 10:49 pm

the mars sample containers look like lightsaber hilts

Bruce Hatch January 20, 2023 at 12:27 am

Maybe use the helicopter to blow the dust off the first rover?

Brother Kellerman January 20, 2023 at 9:40 pm

And yet we won’t ever live there lol

Steve Morrison January 22, 2023 at 4:54 am

Would you consider making a T-shirt that says "hello, wonderful person!". I would like it to be as unmistakably friendly as you are. Thank you for the excellent videos, they help keep the wonder alive in me. 🙂

jaye1967 January 26, 2023 at 10:28 pm

It makes one think they should include maintenance helicopters with future probes to help keep lander and rover solar panels dust free and working better.

Gerald Wagster January 27, 2023 at 11:11 pm

Funny, but I would have hovered above the dust covered solar panels for a couple of min to clean them. Or am I insane Antov? Now that I think they are very far apart…

TheMadMoos February 8, 2023 at 8:02 pm

sample drop looks like a lightsaber

Judith Arsenault February 9, 2023 at 3:10 am

Hahahaha! NASA on Mars! If you believe that, I have some swamp land I'd like to sell you!

amarax February 11, 2023 at 9:28 am

This helicopter is the most crazy and unexpectedly successful thing in extraterrestrial exploration for me.
