Here is a short summary from the Project Blue Book file on the case:
“A blue light was seen in the sky that stayed with a/c for 420NM. Object was picked up by B-47 radar but could not be seen by ground radar.”
Although said by be “identified as American Airlines flight 655,” there is much controversy on whether or not that explanation holds any weight.
