Extreme weather conditions worldwide due to climate change https://paranormalactivity.org/extreme-weather-conditions-worldwide-due-to-climate-change/ https://paranormalactivity.org/extreme-weather-conditions-worldwide-due-to-climate-change/#comments Wed, 06 Jul 2022 02:23:16 +0000 https://paranormalactivity.org/extreme-weather-conditions-worldwide-due-to-climate-change/

전세계 기상이변에 피해속출

Extreme weather conditions have been slamming all parts of the world recently.
A deadly glacial avalanche in Italy, catastrophic flooding in India, Bangladesh and Australia and record-breaking heatwaves in Europe have all proven to be deadly and increasingly costly.
Our Lee Ji-yoon has more.
Floods, drought and a glacier collapse.
These are some of the extreme weather conditions we’ve been seeing lately around the world.
Catastrophic floods displaced millions in India and neighboring Bangladesh in recent weeks… as seasonal monsoon rains came heavier and earlier than usual.
“All the houses here have been damaged by floods. Our wheat, rice, hens, cows everything has drowned. The farmlands have drowned too. The floods took away the fish from the fisheries,”

Torrential rains also battered Australia’s east coast and Sydney on Tuesday, with tens of thousands of residents forced to leave their homes after rivers rose past danger levels.
Over in Italy, a heatwave triggered the collapse of a mountain glacier in the Alps on Sunday, killing seven people.
France, Switzerland, Germany and Spain all saw their monthly temperature records broken last month as temperatures hit above 40 degrees Celcius… drying out soil and vegetation.
South Korea’s weather officials have also issued heat wave warnings across most of the country.
So what’s behind all this extreme weather?
“Global warming can intensify the El Nino and La Nina cycle and increasing the occurrences of extreme La Nina and El Nino events. So El Nino is the opposite of La Nina, it brings drought. So in a global warming scenario we need to be prepared for the possibility of a swing between drought and wet, or flood, in the following year.”

El Ni o brings about unusually warm ocean temperatures in the Equatorial Pacific… as opposed to La Ni a, which is a weather phenomenon that typically brings above average rainfall on the east coast.
And with the return of La Nina and El Nino… weather experts warn that this sounds a loud warning… that climate change is upon us.

Thunderstorms batter 32C Britain as hail pelts down in the South East in extreme UK weather https://paranormalactivity.org/thunderstorms-batter-32c-britain-as-hail-pelts-down-in-the-south-east-in-extreme-uk-weather/ https://paranormalactivity.org/thunderstorms-batter-32c-britain-as-hail-pelts-down-in-the-south-east-in-extreme-uk-weather/#comments Wed, 21 Jul 2021 11:02:02 +0000 http://paranormalactivity.org/thunderstorms-batter-32c-britain-as-hail-pelts-down-in-the-south-east-in-extreme-uk-weather/

BRITS face yet ANOTHER scorching day with temperatures to hit 30C once more – after thunderstorms swept across the country yesterday.

Recent high temperatures have made roads “melt like chocolate” with councils around the country carrying out emergency repairs to surfaces damaged in the heat.

Massive hailstones swept across parts of the country on Tuesday night but have failed to make a dent in the scorching summer heat.

The mercury will soar back up to 30C today – with the possibility of reaching highs of 33C by Friday.

The ice cream aisles in supermarkets across the country have been ransacked and left empty by Brits desperate to cool down in the heat.

But the glorious weather took a turn in the East of England as heavy rain and hail fell and flooded several roads in “apocalyptic” scenes – as scattered storms look set to return today.

The barmy weather sent hail the “size of golf balls” crashing down during a thunderstorm in Leciester – seeing car windows smashed and vehicles dented “minutes” after locals were basking in the sunshine.

The Met Office have now issued a yellow warning for rain from Saturday across much of England and Wales as the weather flips on its head over the weekend.

Today, the Met said southern and western England will be hit with another 30C scorcher, as things cool down a little in the East.

An amber extreme heat warning remains in place for central and southern England, Wales and Northern Ireland as bookies have slashed odds to just 10/11 on this month being the hottest July on record.

GIANT HAILSTONES
It comes after Britain baked on the hottest day of the year as temperatures soared to 32C on Monday – before thunderstorms battered the country, and even ruined cars.

The Met Office yesterday issued four weather warnings for storms as well as extreme heat alerts while temperatures rocketed to 32.2C at Heathrow Airport.

They have now issued a yellow rain warning for the weekend and said to expect heavy rain and thundery showers after a week of sunshine.

The warning is in place across the majority of England and Wales as residents were cautioned about the possibility of flooding and travel disruption.

In Kibworth, Leicester, large hailstones caused damage to outdoor furniture and even smashed the windscreens of cars as stormy weather hit the area.

Dad-of-two Kevin Messenger, 39, had his VW Polo windscreen smashed by the unbelievable hail and believes the cost of damage in the area will be “running into the hundreds if not thousands of pounds.”

He said, “The hails stones were huge, I’ve never seen anything like it. The only thing I can compare it to was monsoon season when I went to Thailand.

“The hail was that severe it smashed the back windscreen of my car, I know other people in the village who had their car windows smashed too.”

Care homes and sheltered housing were evacuated after the hail smashed glass and corridors flooded as a month’s worth of rain fell in 30 minutes.

Twitter users posted images and videos of ruined pipes and damaged cars, as well as hailstones the size of large marbles.

There were also reports of intense rain and hail in Essex and Kent, amid a flash storm in the area.

Giant hailstones were spotted in Essex on Monday afternoon as storms hit with residents reporting the hail as “the size of marbles.”

Dramatic helicopter rescues unfolded on live television in Japan Thursday as a flood-swollen river breached a levee, sending raging floodwaters into a neighborhood north of Tokyo and leaving dozens of residents trapped on the roofs or upper floors of their homes. At least three people are missing in Japan due to flooding and landslides caused by extreme rainfall resulting from former Tropical Storm Etau.

Rare emergency warnings for heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides were issued for nearly 5 million people in two prefectures near Tokyo Thursday morning as torrential rain continued to inundate parts of Japan, flooding hundreds of homes.

Just after midnight early Thursday (Japan time), the Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency warning for heavy rainfall in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, where more than 20 inches of rain fell in 24 hours in some locations. (Japan is 13 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Daylight Time.)

Shortly before 8 a.m. local time Thursday, JMA added nearly all of Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, to the emergency heavy rainfall warning as the heavy rain band shifted ever so slightly to the east and rivers burst their banks as runoff from rain elsewhere drained into rivers flowing through the prefecture.

As Etau moved north into the Sea of Japan Wednesday, a trailing north-south-oriented band of heavy rain stalled over the Kanto region, including Tokyo. Even though Etau was declared post-tropical late Wednesday evening, the band of rain continued to bring torrential rainfall over Tokyo and points to the north well into the daylight hours Thursday.

The resulting rainfall has been exceptionally heavy. JMA said the rainfall amounts being observed are to be expected roughly once every 50 years in some areas, raising concerns of unusually serious flooding and landslides.

According to the Tochigi Prefecture government, a landslide early Thursday in the city of Kanuma left one person missing and another person injured. Kanuma reported 444 millimeters (17.48 inches) of rain in the 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. local time Thursday; in records that began in 1976, this was more than double the city’s previous 24-hour record of 212 mm (8.35 inches) set July 11, 2002.

The incident was one of 17 landslides reported by the prefectural government as of midday Thursday. One home each was damaged in two of the landslides, and 11 people were trapped but later rescued in another of the incidents. The government said five people were stranded in Nikkō due to flooding on a local river Wednesday night; firefighters rescued them around daybreak Thursday.

Meanwhile, JMA issued its highest level of flood warning for the Kinugawa River Thursday morning. The river drains southward through the prefectures north of Tokyo. Early Thursday afternoon, the river breached a levee in the city of Joso, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Japan’s Self-Defense Force sent helicopters to the scene, plucking a number of people from rooftops and the top stories of homes near the stricken levee. Japanese television stations broadcast some of the dramatic scenes live as they happened during the early afternoon hours Thursday.

In one disturbing scene, two people were seen struggling to cling to the roof of what appeared to be a garage or shed as the structure began to crumble beneath them and collapse into the raging floodwaters. The television broadcast, streamed live on the website houdoukyoku.jp, quickly cut away from the images to show its in-studio anchors. The fate of the couple is not immediately clear.
