Martinsville is the best city to live in you don’t have to worry about crime or any other harsh thing that most cities go through it is also a good place for People to retire in so that’s why I say Martinsville Virginia is a good place to live
I am from Wytheville, skeeters has changed owners and now has the worst food on the planet now that they boil their hotdogs and keep the temp on the slushie machine very high making it very watery. In my opinion it has always been the worst place to eat ever. So no redeeming qualities for this place sadly. It's one of the places that is fine to grow up in but has no real opportunities for you once you're an adult.

Portsmouth VA from. It's wasn't bad I lived on a nice area Lynn shores. Only crime area sections might be bad but they the criminals are killing themselves off. So it's just a matter of time things get better in time.
i live in Emporia …. Emporia is not bad. The most criminals are usually the ones driving on HWY 58 and I-95 speeding and having drugs in their cars. Every once in awhile we get gun shots…someone fighting at home or a drug bust. Nobody breaks into cars or houses. Its a small town so everybody is on neighborhood watch anyways. Everybody almost know everybody here. Take it from me. Im a born and raised here and Emporia is very bitter in the winter but BEAUTIFUL In the spring and summer. And fall.

Most of these bad tidings are because of the bipartisan hollowing-out of American industry, to China's benefit. Slave labor is cheaper.
Mom was born in Hopewell back in 1926. It still has some industry. Chemical plants. It was never a pretty town.
Portsmouth could do better. There are still a few nice neighborhoods in Portsmouth. Same with Norfolk.
