The Aleutian Islands Campaign was a military campaign led by U.S. and Canadian forces on the Islands of Attu and Kiska.
It saw the only land battle fought on U.S. soil in World War two. .
Apart from that, the invasion of the Kiska island known as Operation Cottage is remembered as one of the most bizarre actions in the entire war.

On the The Aleutian Islands campaign
, the Canadian soldiers were issued with American M1 helmets to avoid friendly fire incidents..
This is actually not true, the Philippines were until 1946 American territory, the goes for Guam which was occupied.
Americans: ceasefire we're Americans we're Americans…..
Canadians: so anyways we started blasting…
Its always nice to see americans fuckin up ahahaha
Untrue. The Phillipines were a U.S. protectorate, as were the polynesian microislands and atolls the Japanese took.
I love how it was like an war against canada and Usa Cause off the freindly fire
Canada had been fighting since the war started , America joined up 3 years later……lets not forget
holy god bless them all
The difference between Canadians and Americans, Americans use guns, Canadians use our hands and fight like men and shake when it's over(sometimes not), how it's supposed to be.
So during ww2 the Philippines was US soil … so yeah
apart from, say overseas terriroties like the Phillipines.
Canadian heroes who died trying to secure Attu and Kiska for the first Galactic Canadian Empire will be remembered
I am not sure but the Japanese attacked Ft Stevens in Oregon by submarine. The rounds landed on land and fire was returned to the sub. I think that my be considered a land battle as well.
The end of the video says “lessons were learned” – what do armies do now to prevent friendly fire in fog?
Lier pearl habour was sky and land
Americans have never done well when they face Canadians in combat
Somebody didn't study geography in school. Guam, Philippines, Midway and Hawaii were all US Territories during WWII and battles were fought on all of them.
Not sure as I couldn’t hear the video, but this isn’t the only battle fought on US soil as there was a small shootout in Hawaii with downed pilots and ground agents. There was also a fight between Americans and Japanese on Alaska itself
The Philippines: Am I a joke to you?
Alaska did not become a state until 1959
That's a Tragic reality about war. soldiers die from friendly fire far more open then the Army likes to openly admit… No parent wants to read a letter that said he died from an accident…
I believe the Japanese also devastated the Alaskan Natives.
always was suspicious of those Canuckleheads & their Tim Horton's lol
Attu D2.
Simple History, but you forgot to mention when General Custer lost to my people. But whatever. God bless
So what about Guam. Stop this nonsense
Yeah always watch your six !!!
The US army fought the Japanese on American soil in the
Philippines and Guam
With Alaska still more than a decade away from statehood, what made Kiska and Attu different from Guam?
Canada beating USA again.
It was actually very tough for our soldiers during this battle some people who were interviewed said it was really hard because it was freezing cold and they had to climb up pretty high places and stuff and try to avoid slipping and falling all over the place and falling off of ledges and things like that and it was very foggy and everything because of the snow.
The Philippines and Guam were both invaded and occupied by the Japanese in WWII, and both were considered U.S. soil. They were taken by the U.S. when the Spanish surrendered during the Spanish-American War. Alaska wasn't a state yet, so it was a U.S. territory also.
Read the book: “1000 mile war”.
One of the elders from my village was stationed in the Aleutians, so did his brother.
